WHY IS LUNG CANCER SCREENING IMPORTANT?

• Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. However, if found early, the most common type of lung cancer is potentially curable .

• The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends annual low dose screening CT scan for patients who are 50-80 years of age, have a 20 pack-year history of smoking, who are current smokers or have quit within past 15 years.
