Critical Care Medicine is a sub specialty of Internal Medicine that diagnoses and treats the patients who are typically very sick due to various medical conditions . The critically ill patient is cared for by a multi- disciplinary team including physicians trained in critical care medicine (intensivists) as well as nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
